Staying Awake in Your Home Office

September 8th, 20081 Comment

On dreary, gray, rainy days like today it can be downright impossible to stay awake in the office.

One option would be to go out and shop for espresso machines, another would be to just start drinking more Diet Coke. The problem with caffeine is that you have to eat to create a base for all that, and I’m not a big fan of eating a lot because (you guessed it) that will make me tired and sleepy!

So I’m looking for solutions.

The Biggest Fear I have Without Air Conditioning

September 2nd, 2008No Comments

I’m thinking the moisture on my face is going to turn me into a teenager all over again.

Oh wait. I had great skin in high school. I’m thinking about college, when the stress and the everything started getting to me. I swear during my Freshman year of college I considered getting acne treatment. What else was I going to do?

I didn’t, though, and my skin eventually cleared up. But now, gosh, I hope summer ends soon. I can’t take it much longer.

My Kitchen is Small

September 2nd, 2008No Comments

Since I work in the office, I don’t often notice just how small my kitchen is. I’m wondering if replacing the cabinets or kitchen faucets will brighten it up enough that it doesn’t look so tiny.

I have been doing more cooking at home and having a larger kitchen would give me some more freedom to prepare larger meals. I’d like that.

Disney Bingo? Heck YEAH!

August 25th, 2008No Comments

We got the coolest game to try out. Disney Bingo. It’s an interactive game that helps kids learn colors, letters, and if they’re not there yet they can play just matching characters!

My girls cannot get enough of the game. They’re not too good with letters, but they love matching the color on the screen to the color on their bingo board. They even know how to stand up and yell, “Bingo!!” when they have a row of chips!

I find that it’s not that easy to get both my girls to sit down for “family time” and then getting them to play nice is almost impossible. ScreenLife Game’s Disney Bingo is something both girls enjoy so much they stop fighting while we play. This lets us all spend time together and have fun. I don’t have to tell the girls to quit fighting, the girls get to enjoy each other as well as the game, and we all have a really good time.

You can get a copy of Disney Bingo from Amazon.com or even Drugstore.com – it’s readily available and I highly recommend it. I think this is going to get the girls learning the letters of the alphabet way faster than the flash cards we were using.

Thanks, Disney Bingo. It’s nice to see my kids stop fighting and start playing together!

Working From Home Makes Being Unique Easier

August 22nd, 2008No Comments

If I had a corporate job, there is no way I could even consider tattos, body jewelry (other than earrings/bracelets/rings/etc.), or funky hair.

But working from home the world is open to me.

If only I could find a Chicago based hairstylist that would just have fun with my hair, and color, and cut, and make me look the way I want to. But, you know, without me having to draw a friggin picture. Because I want something flattering and edgy and fun.

It shouldn’t be this difficult. Really. I want a hairdresser I can just trust with my hair.

Chicago is Yummy (not a food post)

August 22nd, 2008No Comments

One of my favorite things downtown is this condo hotel thing going up right now. It’s a Trump venture, and I think the winner of last year’s non-celebrity apprentice is the project manager for the project.

One day I want to live somewhere that I’m not worried about trash, yardwork, or almost anything else. I want to be able to say, “We have people for that.”

This is why I work and take care of my kids. I want to retire in style.

Q&A How to Lose Weight – Magic Answer! LOL

August 22nd, 2008No Comments

Question: What’s better than weight loss pills, hours of exercise, and dieting yourself half to death?

Answer: Turn your air conditioning off in the middle of August and sweat. Take extra showers, feel clean by all means, but sweating gets rid of excess water weight and acts kind of like a sauna. Except the kind with moisture and heat. So that would be a steam room.

What Does Your Neighbor Do?

August 22nd, 2008No Comments

Think that working from home is all margarita lunches and whacking golf balls off the deck in the backyard?

Cause it’s not.

It’s interesting who works from home. Your neighbor may be a blogger, your cousin’s friend might be a Virtual Assistant. People everywhere are looking for ways to work from home and you can’t judge a book by its cover.

Ask around. Someone closer than you think might already be working from home!

I hate SEO articles

August 12th, 2008No Comments

You have a 400 word article to write. Fifty of those words are keywords. Twenty of those keywords are phrases that do not appear in everyday language.

Now go…go and be interesting and engaging and make it all make sense.

Yeah, I’m right on top of that. This is the first SEO article I’ve done since getting out of Internet marketing and let me tell you, I don’t miss it one eensy-weensy bit.

Sure the articles write themselves due to connecting keywords – but it turns out to be a crappy article no matter how you look at it.

I got something delicious in the mail

Ts_version_2Renuzit Tri-Scents.

I always swore I’d never buy one of those plug-in air fresheners, I figured they would be stinky and overbearing and not worth the trouble they would take to get out of the package.

I find myself eating my words.

The summer breeze scents I found on my doorstep and eventually plugged into my wall were fantastic. Clean scents, not stinky and overbearing at all!

Plus I find that my room is completely scented in about an hour – so I move the Renuzit Tri-Scents to another room after about an hour and by the end of the day my whole house has this light, clean scent that is fantastic for summer.

Renuzit TriScents worked best in the kitchen and bathroom. I think there is just something about those light Summer Breeze scents that go really well with the kitchen and the bathroom, plus the scent may be light but it is still strong enough to cover food odors as well as bathroom odors I have from the joy and wonder of potty training. I’d recommend these to anyone, and I’m not required to say that. Oh, one thing. If you leave it on for four hours we started getting sniffly, but my husband and I are both highly sensitive to perfumes and things like that. So if you’re allergy-licioius or if you just have sensitivity in your sinuses, don’t use it for more than three or so hours in a room without a break.

Visit the Renuzit TriScents website and print a coupon for your very own Renuzit TriScents Starter Kit today!
