Sometimes doing the same thing starts to get you less results and, as a result, less money.

Sometimes doing the same thing starts to get you less results and, as a result, less money.

When that happens, it’s time to take a look at what you’ve been doing and see if there are ways to shake it up and either get more cients, add more services, or do something else entirely.

I was looking at my business last month and thinking, “What can I do to make this … better?” I was making money but really needed to kick it up a notch. Doing the same old thing every day was giving me less and less in terms of both satisfaction AND money.

So what’s a business ower to do?

The free preview call for Business Building Blocks helped me start thinking in a different way about myself and my business. I was able to step back and see how I could turn my little business into a real, live bigger business.

Maybe you have more faith in yourself than I do and can see yourself with a million dollar company – but I only focus on the next step so I don’t feel totally overwhelmed by the thought of having to run a large business.

Either way, this free call with Ali Brown will help you focus on what you’ve been doing…and what you want to do from here on out.

Let me know how it helped you once you listen in!

The powers that be at AT&T decided I didn’t need Internet access for a day. I had a dry loop that was used only for my DSL because I don’t get home phone service through AT&T and for some reason that dry loop gave me nothing but trouble with my DSL line.

Seriously, it darn near drove me insane.

My work, however, needed to continue…and fast! So I looked around to find a place that had great wi-fi access for the laptop and tables where I could take some notes and get some things done.

Preferably it would have a plug so if I stayed for more than two hours of work (who ever just has two hours of work to do?) my laptop wouldn’t die the slow, painful death of a run down battery.

We have a Starbucks nearby but you have to pay to access the internet. I don’t mind paying if there are no other options, but give me free any day of the week if I can choose. The Panera Bread was the next place I passed, but there seemed to be a lot of toddlers hanging out having lunch with their respective mommies. Too noisy.

Caribou Coffee fit the bill perfectly. I was able to get my laptop in and plugged, there was more than enough room inside that I could take a table for four without feeling guilty, and really spread out to get some work done.

The only requirement Caribou has for the wi-fi is after two hours you need a code to continue using the system. How do you get a code? Purchasing something. It could be as simple as a small coffee. That’s not much to pay at all.

Plus, the ambience is good. Soothing music in the background, surrounded by wood…it’s a good time and I highly recommend Caribou as a secondary office!

Did you know that in most states there is a “business” category for your car insurance? If not, you need to determine if you use your car for business purposes, and if so, how often. Your insurance agent can help you answer these questions…but if you’re afraid they’ll change your policy the minute they find out, you can always call another company for a quote.

In some cases, if you are in an auto accident and it is discovered you were on business, but your car isn’t classified for business…you may not have coverage.

Luckily I know a guy that’s an electrician…several actually…so I’m going to make a few calls and see if I can get it for less than a big company would pay.

Last week I was working on a copywriting project for a client. Sometimes, when I work I leave the television on in the background, and I saw this ad for carnival cruises.

There was all this water, and I remember thinking it was so much like writing. This vast sea of words is all around and it is my job as the writer to find the right ports to stop at to pick up the proper words and culture and level of fun that my client is looking for.

So there you go, sometimes I find inspiration in the strangest places!
