Business Use on your Car Insurance
I got a Geico mailer in the mail (shocking, when I usually get my mailers via that spaceship that visits my house) and it got me thinking about business expenses that are not the typical ones people think of.
Besides having a good liability policy that will cover you, and maybe even errors & omissions insurance depending on how sensitive the work you do is….your auto insurance is something that you need to think about too.
Do you travel to on-site clients? If you do, you are using your car for business and should consider putting it that way on your auto insurance. Sure, it will cost a little more…but if you are in an accident and your company finds out you were on the way to a business job…you’re going to be out of luck on coverage.
Because if they find out you know you were using your car for business it is considered insurance fraud. Not bad enough to sue you for, but isn’t not getting covered for an accident damaging enough?
