Following Up

May 17th, 2008No Comments

So you found out you might be in the running for a gig, and you’re really excited.

You email the prospect with a proposal and your qualifications and let them know you’re looking forward to hearing from them.

Three days pass…and you haven’t heard a peep, what do you do?

Sure you’ve heard people talk about following up, but you don’t want to be pushy…or sales-y…or seem desperate. While I hear where you’re coming from, following up doesn’t make you any of those things.

It shows you follow through, it shows you care, it shows you are interested.

Following up is very positive.

So if three days pass, just send a quick note that says something like, "I"m sure that with a great opportunity like this you are reviewing a lot of proposals, but wanted to let you know that I’m available next week for a call if you’d like to schedule a time to follow up. I look forward to answering any questions you may have regarding how we would work effectively together."

That’s just good business.
