Wondering where I’ve been?

POSTED BY Jennifer Gniadecki on Dec 24 under Blog Yumminess

Okay, maybe you haven’t been wondering, but I’m sure you’ve noticed I haven’t been writing as much as I used to in the blog.

There are two reasons for that, and they’re pretty interdependent.

  1. I feel I can only write about things that are related to virtual working or virtual assistance on this blog.
  2. I’ve been trying to upkeep the blog on the Marketing Curve site simultaneously.
  3. Nothing gives a girl writer’s block like knowing you have to pick a blog before you ever write a post.

So blogging started to feel more like a chore and less like fun.

Start the new year fresh – if you have umpteen blogs, consolidate them! It has been one of the most freeing decisions I’ve ever made. Come the new year, both company site blogs will redirect to the same place, Beyond Mom. It’s a blog. Nothing but a blog. When you go to the front page, you will see the most recent post, not a home page, not a landing page, not a sales pitch. If you’re looking for a blog that’s not a sales pitch, and has opinionated writing about current events, marketing, the blogosphere, PR, and almost anything else you could think of, visit Beyond Mom now and subscribe to the RSS feed!

I’m so excited!

This allows me to talk about what’s important to me (and hopefully you) on more topics than virtual assistance, or working from home, or marketing, or pr. I can write on current events, fun store finds, local events, and whatever else strikes my fancy that I think people might want to read about.

No more hemming and hawing over where to put the post, no more wondering if the post will have a marketing angle or virtual angle. No more worrying about angles.

The whole point of having a blog is to brand yourself personally and let your potential customers or clients get to know who you are and decide if you are someone they would like to do business with.

I, for one, can do this far more effectively on a blog that is not directly attached to a company name. A personal blog with a business tint. So much more fun than a business blog – even the name sounds dreary.

So bring it on 2008 – I’m planning on having a blast. Here are some of the plans for 2008:

Even have a few other ideas on tap that aren’t formed enough to talk about yet.

There is no doubt in my mind that 2008 is going to be a fabulous year!

What are your plans for the new year? If you write a post, permalink me so I can see what’s going on in your world as 2008 swiftly approaches! From what I’ve heard from around the ‘net – it’s looking like a bright and shiny year for many people I’ve heard from, and about.

Best wishes to you all, and to all…a good night! (I still have to wrap presents so I can wake up over a cup of coffee and giddy toddlers!)
