Super Fun Fact Tech Tip
Could you tell I really couldn’t decide what to call this entry?
I learned something new yesterday. A little bitty fact that may be life altering – don’t get too excited, the last two people I told this two just didn’t see what all my fuss was about…but maybe you will!
Google is a calculator.
Yes, I know you all have calculators on your computers already, perhaps you have one that, like mine, can be accessed with one button on the side of your keyboard. So why get all hot and bothered about a search engine that’s also a calculator?
Because you can see the numbers you entered in after you hit the “Search” button.
So you can not only see your answer, you can verify the numbers you put in are correct. I don’t know about you but there have been many times (usually when I have nails and they aren’t all bitten to the quick) I’ve mistyped one of the entries in a long series of numbers I’ve put into my calculator.
Now, if I have typed something erroneously I can change the one number in the search bar and hit “Search” again…and have the correct answer. No more adding up all the numbers again, or in the case of very long lists of numbers, breaking out the Excel to do a SUM calculation.
I love you Google. Your calculator is really cool. I’m just curious…
…several minutes and a little searching later….
Here are some general functions Google Calculator performs.
Complete instructions (showing sin, cos, etc. as well as other functions) can be found here.
Enjoy!
