World Internet Summit
While I firmly agree that going to conventions with like-minded peers can do your business a world of good, I have to take a moment to wonder why you’d go to a peer group convention when you can attend a convention of your niche market?
The chance to attend an event where everyone there is a potential contact, for some could be a potential client and even if you are horrible at networking, you (at the very least) get a deeper understanding of how the people you want to work with think…that’s priceless.
I’m going to be attending the World Internet Summit in Las Vegas this year. I actually won tickets listening in to a teleseminar by Dave Taylor. You can see him over there to the right under “Blogroll”. He’s a great guy and it was pleasant to listen to him for a half an hour and pay enough attention to answer the question at the end of the teleseminar. I’m really looking forward to meeting him while I’m out there.
Then again, I’m looking forward to meeting everyone out there. Of course, it’s “crunch time” with only ten days to go until we pack the kids up in the car and drive to Vegas. We’re trying to take everything into consideration and make sure that nothing is left to chance. Of course, the only thing that’s truly up in the air right now is the arrival of our new laptop we ordered on the 1st. I don’t leave the house often (being a total workaholic) so have not had need of a laptop before this, but to be a remote independent contractor, at a remote location, and have no access to email or the internet for a week? That would not only be insane from a personal standpoint, it would be ludicrous for anyone to consider me serious about my profession if I do not have the tools to perform my job in a location other than my home!
My husband will be attending the summit as well. He is going to put his extensive experience in videography to the test by doing “on the fly” testimonials for one of my clients while we’re there. He is also going to have the chance, first-hand, to meet some of the people I work with and get a better understanding of this elusive animal known as the Internet Marketer. Just kidding, they’re not animals…but I liked the Wild Kingdom sound it had.
I’m also looking forward to the JV room, where I can show off my pride and joy and hopefully get a positive response. It’s difficult knowing that internet marketers need VAs like Starsky needs Hutch but with IMs being so busy and all it just makes it a harrowing experience to get out there and look. My tactical guide should solve that problem.
Question: How do I let people know about this amazing resource without sounding like I’m a used car salesman trying to pawn something off on someone?
All in all we are just so excited it’s silly.
